Newland is a small little area located about 10/15 minutes outside of Banner Elk, North Carolina. If you are wanting to explore the area and see what more it has to offer, traveling to Newland will give you just that. At Elk Mountain Riding Company you have an array of options. Not only can you do horseback riding but you can rent one of their beautiful mountain style cabins at a very reasonable cost. If you are from the city, waking up and sitting on the porch of your cabin and consuming yourself in the silent beauty around you is one of the best ways to wake up and let it set the mood for your entire stay. Elk Mountain is also open year round, and if you have not seen how gorgeous these mountains are filled with snow you need to make that happen for yourself. The horseback ride will last two hours, on the ride the horses will take a break and allow you the chance to grab some gorgeous pictures of your trip, this way you can remain in the moment while riding the horse and not fret over getting pictures to share with your friends. If you find yourself unable to get a booking at either of the two places listed above, you do have other options surrounding you. Banner Elk Stables and Elk Mountain Riding Company are going to be the two that will be closest to you if you are in the Banner Elk area. I am going to name one more for our list that is at or around a 30 minutes commute to visit, which is not too bad and the drive to these places are very scenic and will give you a feel of more things for you to do on your visit.
Duch Creek Trails is located in Vilas, North Carolina. This is just minutes away from Boone, North Carolina. Their horseback riding will last around an hour and they also offer wagon rides etc. on the weekends. Dutch Creek is a nice fall back if you cannot get set up with the other two!
